Blugh and illness and some understanding the obama "effect"

I've been bedridden for the past 24 hours, and can I just say that day time telly, is dull and boring, there's not anything interesting on apart from on the yesterday channel, and old episodes of Top Gear on Dave.

Any way, a few days ago, I tried to begin to understand how both the Labour Party and Conservative Party claim to be the face of what Obama stands for. First things first, Obama is a Liberal we can see that in the way he has brought about common sense to foreign policy, brought the idea of Keynesianism back to economic policy (which is working), and a willingness to listen to those who disagree.

So with the Tory party giving their young members t shirts with blue skys and the word change, the tory's are trying to say that they are the british version of Obama. Lets get one thing straight, Liberal Conservative is an oxymoron, and doesnt make sense. The economic policy of the tories is "do nothing!" Which is to say, we dont care about poor people, we just dont want taxes to go up for rich people. Foreign policy they effectively similar to the Labour party, and that means, the Iraq War, they were both for it!

The Labour Party have no right either to call themselves as part of the Liberal ideology, because we've seen what over a decade of authoritarian home office has done, peaceful protesters being punched kicked and arrested for doing nothing wrong, an illegal war in Iraq and a economic policy which only benefits people like Fred the Shred, and people who can afford to make big purchases on the high street, with the stupid and wasteful vat cut.

Look at Obama's policies, his style and what he says, and make your own mind up!

So... supporting warrentless wiretapping (a la Bush) is liberal?
Oh dear.

Spending other people's money to bail out corporations is liberal? (well I suppose its corporate liberalism, but that's also what the Tories and Labour stand for).
The Keynesianism of Obama is to take wealth from the poor to support the rich, the same policy which has been in operation in the US since at least the 1890s. The same policy which has been in operation in the UK since at least the expropriations of Tudor times.

Ordering the murder of civilians in foreign countries is liberal?
Keeping troops occupying two countries whilst threatening another is liberal?

No. Obama is no liberal. He's just as authoritarian as the next person except he has a nice smile and great oration skills. Oh and he's not Dubya, which is an improvement...

I do agree that Liberal Conservative is a contradiction, the problem is that all that anyone is suggesting is conservative.
